Diabetes mellitus is classified as a chronic non-communicable disease with a constantly increasing prevalence trend globally. Diabetics require routine blood sugar monitoring to prevent more serious complications. However, commonly used measurement methods are still invasive and cause discomfort as well as the risk of infection. In response to these constraints, the urgency of creating an ergonomic, non-invasive glucose detection instrument becomes highly crucial. This research aims to design the GlucoCare product as a smart blood sugar monitoring device using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach. As the primary instrument within this methodology, the House of Quality (HoQ) matrix is comprehensively applied to translate user expectations into measurable technical parameters. The design results indicate that the technical characteristics with the highest degree of importance are device power consumption and product temperature, while the highest level of difficulty is found in battery capacity, product temperature, and battery charging time. In addition, the largest estimated costs are allocated to technical characteristics with a high level of difficulty, specifically the power and sensor components. Thus, the application of QFD is able to assist in determining product development priorities so that GlucoCare has an optimal and ergonomic design that suits user needs.
