Uncontrolled water consumption and the lack of attention to water quality and hygiene are common problems, both in households and in businesses such as cafés. The use of inefficient manual faucets, the absence of water quality monitoring systems, and the potential for microbial contamination can increase health risks and water waste. Designing an effective product requires a structured method to ensure that the solution meets user needs. This study aims to design a Smart Water Usage Monitor by integrating the Nigel Cross method, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP).The Nigel Cross method is used as the main framework in the design process, which includes stages of clarifying objectives, defining functions, identifying requirements, developing and evaluating alternatives, and refining the design. QFD is used to translate user needs into technical specifications, while AHP helps determine the priority of key features based on their level of importance. The results show that the Smart Water Usage Monitor is equipped with a water flow sensor, water quality sensor, and a microcontroller-based control system. The product features automatic faucet control, a sterilization system to eliminate germs, and real-time water quality monitoring. Notification features and historical data recording help users manage water consumption more efficiently. In addition, the application of value engineering successfully reduces production costs without compromising quality.
