This study aims to optimize the Master Production Scheduling (MPS) of Ragum Mesin A products at PT XYZ in 2026 using the least cost method to obtain a feasible production plan with minimum cost. The main issue faced by the company is the imbalance between production capacity and fluctuating demand, which leads to increased production costs and inefficient workforce utilization. The study began with aggregate planning and product disaggregation to determine detailed production requirements. Workforce capacity analysis was then conducted through regular time, overtime, and subcontract calculations under three workforce alternatives: the current condition (6 workers), Proposal I (7 workers), and Proposal II (12 workers). The MPS was developed using the transportation-based least cost method assisted by Microsoft Excel and POM-QM for Windows. The results show that the current workforce alternative of 6 workers produces the minimum total production cost of IDR 73,936,664 over 12 periods, lower than Proposal I at IDR 86,226,860 and Proposal II at IDR 76,283,860. Furthermore, Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) analysis indicates that all work centers have negative capacity variance values and utilization levels below one, meaning no production bottlenecks occur. Therefore, the proposed production plan is feasible for implementation and capable of improving the company’s production cost efficiency.
