Abstract

Penggunaan pupuk kimia yang berlebihan di Desa Suka, Kabupaten Karo, menyebabkan tingginya biaya produksi dan penurunan kualitas tanah. Program pengabdian masyarakat yang telah dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut melalui inovasi pembuatan dan penerapan pupuk organik fermentasi berbasis feses kambing dan limbah sayuran. Sasaran utama pada pengabdian masyarakat adalah peningkatan keterampilan petani dan penguatan ekonomi bagi Kelompok Tani Suka Maju. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan teknis pembuatan pupuk organik fermentasi yang berkualitas, pendampingan intensif dalam aplikasi pupuk organik fermentasi pada budidaya sayuran, monitoring dan evaluasi dampak ekonomi maupun lingkungan. Parameter keberhasilan diukur melalui survei pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani, analisa biaya produksi, kualitas hasil pertanian dan lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan keterampilan petani dalam memproduksi pupuk organik fermentasi mencapai rata-rata 92%. Dampak ekonomi terlihat dari penurunan rataan biaya pembelian pupuk kimia sebesar 40% dan peningkatan produktivitas pertanian sayuran sebesar 20-25%. Inovasi pupuk organik fermentasi dapat mengurangi penurunan tingkat pencemaran lingkungan yang ditandai dengan pemanfaatan limbah ternak secara optimal. Program pengabdian masyarakat telah berhasil meningkatkan kesejahteraan serta kemandirian Kelompok Tani Suka Maju. Inovasi pupuk organik fermentasi merupakan solusi efektif dan berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan ekonomi dan kesejahteraan petani sayuran dan mendukung pertanian ramah lingkungan

The excessive use of chemical fertilizers in Suka Village, Karo Regency, has led to high production costs and the degradation of soil quality. This community service program aimed to address these issues through the innovative production and application of fermented organic fertilizer derived from goat manure and vegetable waste. The primary objectives were to enhance the technical skills and strengthen the economy of the Suka Maju Farmers Group. The methods employed included technical training on producing high-quality fermented organic fertilizer, intensive mentoring in its application for vegetable cultivation, and monitoring and evaluation of economic and environmental impacts. Success parameters were measured through surveys of farmers' knowledge and skills, production cost analysis, and assessments of crop quality and environmental health. The results demonstrated that farmers' proficiency in producing fermented organic fertilizer reached an average of 92%. The economic impact was evidenced by a 40% average reduction in chemical fertilizer expenditures and a 20-25% increase in vegetable crop productivity. Furthermore, the innovation of fermented organic fertilizer reduced environmental pollution through the optimal utilization of livestock waste. This community service program has successfully improved the welfare and self-sufficiency of the Suka Maju Farmers Group. Fermented organic fertilizer serves as an effective and sustainable solution to enhance the economy and well-being of vegetable farmers while supporting environmentally friendly agriculture.
