Abstract
Methanol (CH₃OH) ialah bahan kimia utama yang dapat digunakan dalam proses produksi biodiesel melalui reaksi transesterifikasi. Sebagai bahan baku yang bersifat volatile dan berisiko tinggi, pengendalian persediaan methanol harus dilakukan secara cermat untuk memastikan kelancaran suatu proses produksi dan juga efisiensi biaya operasional perusahaan. Penelitian dilakukan bertujuan menganalisis pengendalian terhadap jumlah dari persediaan methanol pada PT. XYZ menggunakan pendekatan metode perhitungan Economic Order Quantity (EOQ). Metode perhitungan ini digunakan agar perusahaan dapat menentukan pembelian yang paling optimal, menentukan frekuensi dari pemesanan, serta perhitungan total biaya persediaan, perhitungan dari safety stock, dan juga penetuan reorder point. Data yang digunakan meliputi jumlah kebutuhan methanol, biaya pemesanan, biaya penyimpanan, harga satuan bahan, serta lead time pengadaan bahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah pemesanan secara optimal berdasarkan metode perhitungan EOQ adalah sebesar 1.480.460 kg dengan frekuensi terhdap pemesanan yaitu sebanyak 11 kali per tahun. Penerapan metode EOQ menghasilkan total biaya persediaan sebesar Rp173.213.806, lebih rendah apabila dibandingkan dengan metode secara konvensional perusahaan yang mencapai Rp174.361.350. Selain itu, kebutuhan safety stock sebesar 442.834 kg dan reorder point sebesar 1.762.406 kg diperlukan untuk menjaga kontinuitas proses produksi. Dengan demikian, metode EOQ terbukti lebih efisien dan dapat diimplementasikan sebagai strategi pengendalian persediaan bahan methanol di industri biodiesel.
Methanol (CH₃OH) is the main chemical that can be used in the biodiesel production process through the transesterification reaction. As a volatile and high-risk raw material, methanol inventory control must be carried out carefully to ensure the smooth running of a production process and also the efficiency of the company's operational costs. The study was conducted to analyze the control of the amount of methanol inventory at PT. XYZ using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) calculation method approach. This calculation method is used so that the company can determine the most optimal purchase amount, ordering frequency, and calculation of total inventory costs, safety stock, and also determination of reorder points. The data used include the amount of methanol needed, ordering costs, storage costs, unit prices of materials, and lead time for material procurement. The results of the study showed that the optimal order amount based on the EOQ calculation method was 1,480,460 kg with an ordering frequency of 11 times per year. The application of the EOQ method resulted in a total inventory cost of Rp173,213,806, lower than the company's conventional method which reached Rp174,361,350. In addition, the need for safety stock of 442,834 kg and reorder point of 1,762,406 kg are needed to maintain the continuity of the production process. Thus, the EOQ method is proven to be more efficient and can be implemented as a strategy for controlling methanol inventory in the biodiesel industry.
