Abstract
Effective techniques in product design are the key to success in producing products that meet consumer needs. The high risk of developing scoliosis due to continuous activities makes it important to design scoliosis back therapy equipment. In this research, the design and development of a scoliosis back therapy device product was carried out using the Nigel Cross method. Nigel Cross's process stages include clarifying objectives, determining design functions, classifying and identifying needs, determining characteristics, determining other options, evaluating alternatives, and detailing improvements. As a result, the designed product was produced in accordance with consumer desires, verified through recapitulation of questionnaire distribution. Evaluation of alternatives shows the superiority of this product compared to other alternatives. Through value engineering, several components were successfully replaced with more economical ones without reducing product quality.
