Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana Kecerdasan Emosional Guru Kimia Madrasah Aliyah Swasta (MAS) di Kota Medan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui wawancara langsung terhadap responden. Indikator kecerdasan emosional yang dikaji adalah pengenalan diri, penguasaan diri, motivasi diri, empati, dan hubungan yang harmonis.Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh guru kimia yang mengajar di MAS Medan yang berjumlah 5 orang dari 3 MAS yang ada (MAS Laboratorium, MAS Muhammadiyah 1, dan MAS YASPI). Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa ratar-rata pengenalan diri sebesar 92% (sangat baik), penguasaan diri 90% (sangat baik), motivasi diri sebesar 85% (baik), empati sebesar 93% (sangat baik), dan hubungan yang harmonis 90% (sangat baik). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kecerdasan emosional guru-guru kimia MAS di kota Medan berkategori baik.
This study aimed to determine the extent of Emotional Intelligence of Chemistry Teachers in Madrasah Aliyah (MAS) in Medan. This research was a descriptive qualitative study. Research data were obtained through direct interviews of respondents. The indicators of emotional intelligence studied were self-recognition, self-mastery, self-motivation, empathy, and harmonious relationships. The populations in this study were all chemistry teachers who taught in MAS Medan namely, 5 teachers from 3 different MASes (MAS Laboratory, MAS Muhammadiyah 1, and MAS YASPI). The results of the interview showed the average of 92% (very good) self-recognition, 90% (very good) self-mastery, 85% (good) self-motivation, 93% (very good) empathy, and 90% (very good) harmonious relationship. Thus, it could be concluded that the emotional intelligence of MAS chemistry teachers in Medan city was categorized as good.
