Abstract

Telah dilakukan vulkanisasi pada campuran polietilen dan ethylene propylene diene monomer dengan penambahan variasi dikumil peroksida dan divinil benzena, dimana campuran optimum pada 1 phr DKP dan 2 phr DVB. Kemudian campuran TPE ditambahkan pengisi pulp TKKS dengan variasi 0 g, 10 g, 20 g, 30 g, dan 40 g. Pencampuran dilakukan dengan alat internal mixer pada suhu 135oC, kemudian dicetak dengan alat pres kompresor pada suhu 135oC sesuai dengan ASTM D638 sehingga diperoleh spesimen. Spesimen dikarakterisasi dengan uji kekuatan tarik dan analisa morfologi permukaan dengan SEM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campuran TPE memiliki kekuatan tarik paling tinggi didapatkan dengan penambahan 10 g serat pulp TKKS dengan nilai kekuatan tarik 19,82 MPa dan kemuluran 29,40%. Dari analisa morfologi permukaan memperlihatkan adhesi yang lemah dengan tidak meratanya penyebaran serat dalam matriks polietilen.

 

Vulcanization of a mixture of polyethylene and ethylene propylene diene monomer had been carried out with the addition of variations in dicumil peroxide and divinyl benzene, where the optimum mixture were 1 phr DKP and 2 phr DVB. Then the TPE mixture was added to the contents of the OPEFB pulp with variations of 0 g, 10 g, 20 g, 30 g, and 40 g. Mixing was done with an internal mixer at 135oC and printed with a compressor press at 135oC in accordance with ASTM D638 so that the specimens were obtained. Specimens were characterized by tensile strength test and surface morphology analysis with SEM. The results showed that the TPE mixture had the highest tensile strength obtained by adding 10 g of OPEFB pulp fiber with a tensile strength value of 19.82 MPa and elongation of 29.40%. From the morphological analysis, the surface showed weak adhesion with uneven distribution of fibers in the polyethylene matrix.
