Abstract

This study aims to determine how much influence the variables of Population, Economic Growth Rate, and Minimum
Wage either partially or simultaneously on the Open Unemployment Rate in North Sumatra Province. The type of
research used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The data used in this study are secondary data for the period
2015 to 2021. The data is taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics of North Sumatra Province. The analysis method
used in this research is the classical assumption test and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that
partially the Total Population had a positive and significant effect on the Open Unemployment Rate. The Economic
Growth variable has a significant and negative effect on the Open Unemployment Rate. The Minimum Wage variable
has a negative and significant effect on the Open Unemployment Rate. And simultaneously the independent variables
of Population, Economic Growth, and Minimum Wage have a significant effect simultaneously on the Open
Unemployment Rate.
