Abstract
This study discusses the role of the Blue Economy in developing the coastal regional economy, with a case study in Sabang City. Blue Economy is a sustainable development concept that utilizes marine resources wisely to improve community welfare and preserve marine ecosystem sustainability. This study aims to analyze the optimization and effectiveness of Blue Economy implementation in developing the coastal regional economy. This study employs a quantitative approach, processed through data collection via questionnaires. The results show that Sabang City has significant marine resource potential, yet its utilization still needs to be improved. However, the effective implementation of the Blue Economy in developing the coastal regional economy can increase the local community's economy and preserve marine ecosystem sustainability. Several obstacles were encountered during the implementation, including the need for more understanding and awareness among the community about the importance of preserving marine resources and the low involvement of the government in developing infrastructure and supporting Blue Economy activities in Sabang City. Therefore, more severe and integrated efforts are required to develop the potential of the Blue Economy in Sabang City to enhance the sustainable development of the coastal regional economy.
