Abstract

High population growth indicates the need for adequate food intake. The need for food in a country can be met if agriculture in that country can be sustainable. Agricultural innovation related to increasing soil fertility is an important factor in agricultural development. One of the agricultural problems that is quite important at this time is the decreasing fertile land for agriculture, so efforts are needed to re-fertilize through the application of fertilizers. On the other hand, long-term use of inorganic fertilizers can become a new problem for the environment. One source of fertility that has not been explored so far is the marine sediments of the Jakarta Bay estuary because it has quite high levels of nutrients (NPKCa) and has the potential to be used as a source of fertility (fertilizer). The method used is granulation through sediment sampling, laboratory observations, fertilizer manufacture, and growth trials (corn plants) at the agricultural field station IPB Bogor. Sedimentary fertilizer is made with several additional ingredients including bat manure, rice husk ash, and gum arabic. The sediment fertilizer made is an environmentally friendly organic fertilizer in the form of granules.
