Abstract
Sejak Desember 2019, dunia dilanda pandemi penyakit Corona-Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) yang mengenai hampir semua negara tidak terkecuali Indonesia. Per bulan September 2020, seluruh propinsi di Indonesia melaporkan kenaikan kasus COVID-19 yang signifikan termasuk Sumatera Utara. Desa Telagah di Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara melaporkan satu orang penderita COVID-19 dan beberapa orang yang kontak erat dengannya. Di saat yang bersamaan, penduduk Desa Telagah Langkat memiliki risiko penyakit paru lainnya yaitu Penyakit Paru Obstruksi Kronik (PPOK) yang dikaitkan dengan kebiasaan merokok yang sangat tinggi serta paparan asap kayu bakar dan pestisida sehari-hari. Sayangnya kesadaran dan pemahaman warga tentang upaya menjaga kesehatan paru masih sangat rendah. Pendidikan kesehatan tentang kesehatan paru menjadi penting dan aplikatif bagi warga. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah membangun kesadaran dan pemahaman warga tentang pencegahan COVID-19 dan PPOK. Metode yang dilaksanakan adalah edukasi interaktif pada 30 orang warga di Desa Telagah secara langsung, diikuti dengan pembagian masker dan hand sanitizer. Warga juga diberikan buku saku Desa Siaga COVID19, leaflet edukasi PPOK dan bahaya merokok serta pembekalan cara mencuci tangan yang benar. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah kegiatan edukasi berjalan dengan baik dan lancar, peserta merespon dengan aktif bertanya, mengikuti kegiatan dengan kondusif, dan melanjutkan transfer pengetahuan ke warga lain.
Since December 2019, the world has been hit by the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic involving almost all countries, including Indonesia. As of September 2020, all provinces in Indonesia reported a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, including in North Sumatra. In Telagah Village in Langkat Regency, Sumatera Utara, one person diagnosed with COVID-19 and several people who had close contact with him was found. At the same time, residents of Telagah Langkat Village are at risk of other lung diseases, namely Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which is associated with vhigh smoking habits and exposure to daily firewood smoke and pesticides. Unfortunately, the awareness and understanding about efforts to maintain lung health is still very low. Health education on lung health is important and applicable for residents. The aim of this activity is to build awareness and understanding of citizens about the prevention of COVID-19 and COPD. The method implemented was direct interactive education for residents in Telagah Village, followed by the distribution of masks and hand sanitizers. The residents were also given a pocket book for the Village Ready fo COVID-19, educational leaflets on COPD and the hazard of smoking as well as supplies on proper hand washing. The results obtained were that educational activities went well and smoothly, participants actively participated in asking questions and all activities went conducively.
