Abstract
A poorly organized and unclean work environment can increase the potential for hazards for workers. PT. PKS XYZ is a palm oil processing company that has several work stations with potential risks. The purpose of this study was to identify potential work hazards and provide suggestions for improvements using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and 5S methods. Based on the results of observations, conditions such as oil spills, tools that are not neatly arranged, puddles of water, and suboptimal use of PPE were found. The results of the JSA analysis at the production waste processing station showed a very high risk (risk value 1500) due to exposure to machine noise and hot steam, as well as priority 1 risks such as burns due to hot temperatures (risk value 250). The 5S assessment produced a total score of 65% which is included in the "average" category, with the lowest value in the Seiton aspect (50%). Therefore, it is necessary to improve the layout of the tools, increase discipline in the use of PPE, and work safety training to reduce the risk of accidents and create a safe and efficient work environment.
