Abstract
Palm oil industry plays a significant role in the national economy of many countries, including Indonesia, but it also faces environmental and labor challenges, especially related to occupational health and safety (OHS). This study aims to analyze the implementation of legal aspects regarding OHS in the palm oil processing industry, particularly at PT S in North Sumatra. The research method used is qualitative with a cross-sectional design, collecting data through in-depth interviews and analysis of SMK3 documents. The results show that PT S has OHS policies and commitments, although there are aspects that need to be re-evaluated such as policy dissemination to all workers. The company has identified risks and taken preventive measures but still needs to increase the number of OHS experts and provide OHS training for employees. OHS facilities such as fire extinguishers, hydrants, and smoke detectors are available, but the OHS laboratory is still obtained from third parties. Performance monitoring and evaluation have been conducted through internal and external audits. Furthermore, through performance monitoring and evaluation based on legal standards, the company continues to improve its OHS system, ensuring compliance with regulations, but employee participation in OHS training remains low.
