Abstract
Alat-alat elektronik tidak lepas dari kehidupan sehari-hari sehingga dalam penggunaannya alat elektronik kerap mengalami kendala. Salah satu alat elektronik sering mengalami kendala adalah microwave oven. Microwave oven adalah kotak logam persegi panjang dengan lubang atau beberapa lubang tempat energi gelombang mikro dialirkan ke dalam rongga. Microwave oven memiliki fungsi untuk memanggang atau menghangatkan makanan. Permasalahan sering terjadi pada microwave oven adalah oven cavity sulit dibersihkan dan mudah mengalami karat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah merancang perbaikan produk microwave oven dengan permasalahan material di dalam oven cavity sulit dibersihkan dan mudah berkarat menggunakan metode Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) dan konsep material selection. Hasil perbaikan desain produk microwave oven dengan DFMA menggunakan konsep material selection terhadap kerangka adalah menggunakan ceramic enammel. Desain produk rancangan didapatkan adanya perubahan pada struktur produk di mana awalnya adalah kerangka stainless steel menjadi kerangka ceramic enammel. Pada Assembly Process Chart (APC), terdapat pengurangan waktu kerja namun tidak mengalami perubahan pada urutan proses perakitan sehingga jumlah kegiatan penyimpanan, transportasi, operasi, dan inspeksi masih tetap sama. Tingkat efisiensi desain hasil perbaikan mengalami peningkatan dibandingkan desain awal dan mengalami penurunan biaya perakitan sehingga hasil desain perbaikan dapat menghema waktu dan unit cost dalam perakitan.
Electronic devices cannot be separated from everyday life so that in their use electronic devices often experience problems. One of the electronic devices that often experience problems is a microwave oven. A microwave oven is a rectangular metal box with a hole or several holes through which microwave energy is channeled into the cavity. Microwave ovens have a function to bake or warm food. The problem often occurs in microwave ovens is that the oven cavity is difficult to clean and easily rusts. The purpose of this research is to improve microwave oven products with material problems in the oven cavity that are difficult to clean and easy to rust using the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) method and the concept of material selection. The results of improving the design of microwave oven products with DFMA using the concept of material selection for the framework are using ceramic enamel. The design product design obtained a change in the product structure where initially the stainless steel frame became a ceramic enamel frame. On the Assembly Process Chart (APC), there is a reduction in work time but no change in the order of the assembly process so that the number of storage, transportation, operation, and inspection activities remains the same. The level of efficiency of the improved design has increased compared to the initial design and has decreased assembly costs so that the results of the improved design can save time and unit costs in assembly.
