Perancangan Produk Min CTS Sebagai Alat Terapi Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Menggunakan Metode Brainstorming

Abstract

Pada tahun 2010, National Health Interview Study (NHIS) menjelaskan prevalensi keluhan Carpal Tunnel Syndrome untuk orang dewasa berada pada nilai 3,6% (8,3 ribu). Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) merupakan gejala neuropati yang menekan saraf median di pergelangan tangan, ditandai dengan peningkatan tekanan di terowongan karpal dan penurunan fungsi saraf. Keluhan yang kerap muncul adalah nyeri, mati rasa, dan kesemutan di sepanjang jalur saraf median. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, diperlukan kegiatan brainstorming untuk mendapatkan ide desain produk dalam mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Brainstorming adalah suatu teknik yang mampu menggali pendapat sebanyak-banyaknya tentang suatu topik situasional, brainstorming juga dikatakan dapat meningkatkan pemikiran kritis semua pihak perancang, karena setiap peserta akan memunculkan ide atau pendapat tanpa takut akan kritikan dari orang lain. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan brainstorming, kami mengusulkan sebuah rancangan produk fisioterapi yaitu Min CTS. Tujuan dari perancangan produk Min CTS adalah sebagai penyangga tangan saat sedang menggunakan mouse. Alat ini didesain menggunakan magnet tourmaline yang berguna sebagai terapi bagi pergelangan tangan sehingga bagian pergelangan tangan tidak mengalami penyakit Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Berdasarkan hasil brainstorming, didapat spesifikasi produk Min CTS yaitu dimensi produk 15 x 20 x 8 cm, berat produk 250 gram, material produk poly vynil chloride, diameter magnet tourmaline 1,5 cm, jumlah batu tourmaline 6 buah, material bantalan menggunakan kain busa teri, warna produk abu-abu, dilengkapi pengatur suhu, dan dilengkapi timer.

Complaints that often arise are pain, numbness, and tingling along the median nerve path. In this regard, brainstorming activities are needed to get product design ideas to overcome these problems. Brainstorming is a technique that is able to explore as many opinions as possible about a situational topic, brainstorming is also said to be able to increase the critical thinking of all parties to the designer, because each participant will come up with ideas or opinions without fear of criticism from others. Based on the results of the brainstorming activity, we propose a physiotherapy product design, namely Min CTS. The purpose of designing the Min CTS product is to support the hand while using the mouse. This tool is designed to use a tourmaline magnet which is useful as therapy for the wrist so that the wrist does not experience Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Based on the brainstorming results, the Min CTS product specifications were obtained, namely product dimensions 15 x 20 x 8 cm, product weight 250 grams, product material poly vinyl chloride, tourmaline magnet diameter 1.5 cm, number of tourmaline stones 6 pieces, cushion material using anchovy foam, product color gray, equipped with temperature control, and equipped with a timer.
