Abstract
Along with technological developments, the problems faced by the world's industry accompanied by global competition are also increasingly developing and complex. Production line imbalance is often a problem faced by industry in Indonesia, especially CV XYZ, a micro business engaged in rattan processing. One effort that can be done is to balance the production line by applying the line balancing concept using the Ranked Position Weight (RPW) method by optimally assigning work elements to stations by taking into account priority relationships and processing time, determining work elements to stations to the optimum by calculating priority relationships and processing time, transfer the network to the priority matrix, calculate position weights, prioritize sorting operations, load operations, experiment, describe line balancing results, calculate line efficiency, and calculate smoothing indices. The results show that the 10 designed work stations are able to overcome the imbalance in the placement of work elements. This can be seen from the high percentage of Line Efficiency (99.75%) and the low Smoothing Index (8,72) which shows that the efficiency and balance of the lines is very good.
