Abstract

Berastagi is one of the cities in Karo Regency which has an attraction of natural beauty and abundant harvest, a very favorable position because it is supported by its geographical area, and has many tourist objects that take advantage of the beauty and panoramic view of the Berastagi area, making Berastagi City one of the tourist cities. in Karo District. Berastagi is also one of the centers of agriculture and plantations, one of which is Jeruk Berastagi, this is because the agricultural land is very fertile, so that most of the residents of Berastagi District work as farmers, especially for those who live and own agricultural land in rural areas. The largest plantation product from Karo Regency is the Berastagi Citrus, the Berastagi Citrus gardens are very easy to find when we are in Berastagi but it is very unfortunate that the Berastagi Citrus itself has not been fully utilized as one of the attractions for tourists to support Berastagi as a tourist city. Because the utilization of natural potential and perceived attractiveness has not been maximized, it is necessary to make an agro-tourism design that can facilitate agro-tourism that is environmentally friendly, and can make maximum use of natural resources. The orange plantation agro-tourism area in Berastagi was built to accommodate the need for recreational infrastructure by considering ecological architecture as a building design approach, therefore a research was carried out on the application of the ecological theme architecture that will be applied to the Orange Plantation Agro-tourism in Berastagi. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method, data collection is done through observation, questionnaires, and literature review on ecological architectural theory, which is then analyzed as a design guide. The results of this study are ag ro-tourism designs that can provide an atmosphere of educational recreation, by applying the principles of ecological architecture as a design approach used in the building, such as creating green areas between buildings as a function of environmental conservation and not causing problems with nature, creating spaces that suit your needs. and good room placement, creating a building shape that follows the shape of the land conditions without the cut & fill process, placing good ventilation in order to create good air exchange, maximizing the use of locally made building materials, and building materials that are energy efficient and easy to maintain
