Abstract

Port is an important element in a country's economic growth. Through ports, trade interactions occur through exports and imports of goods, not only that, the tourism sector will certainly develop and increase with the fluctuating activities of both domestic and foreign passengers. Visitor activities at the passenger terminal certainly require comfortable conditions in carrying out their activities. Passenger comfort in terms of thermal comfort at the Batam Center International Ferry Port is still considered very lacking. Both in terms of comfort, room temperature, and air ventilation are still considered not good. It is necessary to have a bioclimatic architectural approach in achieving the thermal comfort of passengers at the Batam International Ferry Port. The strategy of responding to the climate by adjusting the design mass, building orientation, and choosing the building envelope material is one way to apply the bioclimatic concept.
