Abstract
Medan sebagai salah satu kota besar di Indonesia terus berkembang menjadi kota Metropolitan. Populasi Kota Medan relatif besar. Dengan luas kota Medan mencapai 265,10 Km2 . Kemelut dapat terjadi karena penurunan kualitas lingkungan akibat infrastruktur yang rusak. Minimnya pengelolaan lingkungan hidup perumahan/pemukiman menyebabkan kualitas lingkungan berkurang dan menyebabkan kawasan kumuh. Salah satu kecamatan di Medan adalah Kecamatan Medan Denai. Area kumuh sangat jelas terlihat dari kondisi fisik, yaitu: (1) Tusukan infrastrur yang tidak berfungsi; (2) Sanitasi lingkungan hidup yang buruk; (3) Hubungan sosial yang rendah; (4) Menurunnya perekonomian/pendapatan; (5) Kecenderungan tumbuh miskin budaya.
Medan as one of the big cities in Indonesia continues to develop into a Metropolitan city. The population of Medan City is relatively large. With an area of the city of Medan reaching 265.10 km2. Conflict can occur due to a decrease in environmental quality due to damaged infrastructure. The lack of environmental management for housing / settlements causes the quality of the environment to decrease and leads to slum areas. One of the districts in Medan is Medan Denai District. The slum area is clearly visible from its physical condition, namely: (1) non-functioning infrastructure punctures; (2) Poor environmental sanitation; (3) Low social relations; (4) Decreasing economy / income; (5) The tendency to grow poor in culture.
