Abstract

Cabai merah merupakan salah satu komoditas hortikultura yang fluktuasi harganya sangat variatif dan permintaannya yang terus meningkat.  Desa Lubuk Cuik di Kecamatan Lima Puluh Pesisir (Batubara) merupakan lumbung cabai Sumatera Utara karena mampu menghasilkan 15-18 ton cabai per hari. Desa Lubuk Cuik menjadi Desa Binaan PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium (Persero) bekerja sama dengan Fakultas Pertanian USU. Berdasarkan analisis situasi maka permasalahan yang dihadapi yaitu mitra belum memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam memproduksi bibit cabai berkualitas, belum memiliki Good Agricultural Practice cabai dan perlu perubahan pola pikir masyarakat dalam budidaya cabai. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat untuk mengubah pola pikir masyarakat dalam melakukan budidaya cabai sehingga diperoleh hasil maksimal dan berpeluang  meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, kesejahteraan, pendapatan mitra dan sejalan dengan tujuan 3 SDGs yaitu kehidupan sehat dan sejahtera (Good Health and Well-being). Metode yang dilakukan yaitu pelatihan mengenai Good Agricultural Practice Cabai dan pelatihan tentang kesesuaian lahan cabai. Pelatihan disertai diskusi langsung dan umpan balik untuk menilai serapan transfer knowledge yang diberikan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa petani mitra sangat antuasias dalam mengikuti pelatihan dan mendapatkan pemahaman baru terkait Good Agriculture Practice Cabai dan kesesuaian lahan cabai.  Sejumlah 75% petani yang hadir memahami transfer knowledge yang diberikan dan berminat untuk melakukannya pada budidaya cabai.

Red chilies are a horticultural commodity whose price fluctuations are very varied and demand continues to increase. Lubuk Cuik Village in Lima Puluh Pesisir District (Batubara) is the barn of North Sumatra chilies because it is capable of producing 15-18 tonnes of chilies per day. Lubuk Cuik Village is a village assisted by PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium (Persero) in collaboration with the USU Faculty of Agriculture. Based on the situation analysis, the problems faced are that partners do not have the knowledge and skills in producing quality chili seeds, do not have Good Agricultural Practice for chilies and need to change the community's mindset in cultivating chilies. The aim of community service is to change the community's mindset in cultivating chilies so that maximum results are obtained and the opportunity to increase knowledge, skills, welfare, partner income and is in line with the 3 SDGs goals, namely a healthy and prosperous life (Good Health and Well-being). The method used is training on Good Agricultural Practice for Chilies and training on the suitability of chili land. Training is accompanied by direct discussions and feedback to assess the uptake of the knowledge transfer provided. The results of the service show that the partner farmers are very enthusiastic about taking part in the training and gaining new understanding regarding Good Agriculture Practice for Chilies and the suitability of chili land. A total of 75% of the farmers who attended understood the knowledge transfer provided and were interested in doing it in chili cultivation.
