Abstract

Penyandang disabilitas atau Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus merupakan bagian dari masyarakat Indonesia yang mempunyai kedudukan, hak, kewajiban, serta peran yang sama dengan masyarakat Indonesia lainnya dalam kehidupan dan penghidupannya termasuk untuk menjalankan hidup sehat. Dalam Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs tahun 2030 tercantum salah satu tujuannya yaitu menggalakkan hidup sehat dan mendukung kesejahteraan untuk semua usia” (SDGs 3). Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia (Kemenkes) gencar menggaungkan sosialisasi Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat. Penghormatan hak-hak penyandang disabilitas adalah aspek penting dalam perencanaan pembangunan nasional. Dengan adanya komitmen ini maka sudah seharusnya penyandang disabilitas layak  untuk hidup sehat dan sejahtera. Program Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat (PPM) ini bertujuan memberikan pendampingan kepada komunitas penyandang disabilitas pada dua Sekolah Luar Biasa di Provinsi Sumatera Utara, yaitu SLB-C di Kab. Deli Serdang dan SLB Negeri di kota Sidikalang. Pendampingan diberikan secara khusus kepada guru/orangtua tentang peran mereka dalam membimbing anak untuk melakukan pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulutnya. Upaya promotif dan promotif-preventif paling efektif dilakukan pada siswa sekolah karena upaya peningkatan kesehatan harus sedini mungkin dan dilakukan secara terus menerus    agar menjadi kebiasaan bagi siswa sekolah untuk berperilaku hidup sehat tidak terkecuali bagi penyandang disabilitas sehingga mereka dapat mandiri melakukan pemeliharaan Kesehatan rongga mulutnya.

 

Persons with disabilities (PWDs) or children with special needs are part of Indonesian society who have the same position, rights, obligations and roles as of the Indonesian people in their lives and livelihoods, including living a healthy life. In the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 include one of the goals, namely promoting healthy living and supporting prosperity for all (SDGs 3). The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes) is intensively promoting the socialization of the Healthy Living Community Movement. However, it is reported that 15 out of every 100 people in the world are people with disabilities and it is estimated that 50% of people with disabilities cannot affords health services. Respecting the rights of persons with disabilities is an important aspect in national development planning. With this commitment, people with disabilities should be entitled to live healthy and prosperous lives. This Community Service Program (PPM) aims to provide assistance to the community of people with disabilities in Special Schools (SLB-C) in Deli Serdang Regency of Medan City and State Special Schools (SLBN) at Sidikalang city. This program specifically to teachers/parents regarding the role of teachers/parents in providing/guiding children to maintain their dental and oral health. The most effective promotive and preventive efforts are carries out on school students because efforts to improve health must be early as possible and carried out continuously therefore it becomes a habit for students to behave in a healthy lifestyle. Including for people with disabilities therefore they can independently carry out health care.
