Abstract

Teknologi hidrogel dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai solusi untuk media tanam di dalam ruangan. Hidrogel adalah jaringan polimer tiga dimensi dengan ikatan silang (crosslinked) pada polimer hidrofilik, yang mampu swelling atau menyimpan air dan larutan fisiologis sampai dengan ribuan kali dari berat keringnya, serta tidak mudah larut. Untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang budidaya tanaman hias menggunakan media hidrogel maka dilakukan pengabdian dengan menggunakan mitra di Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Muhammadiyah Sidomulyo. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi kepada mitra berupa media tanam alternatif berbasis hidrogel berbahan dasar alginate yang ramah lingkungan yang dapat digunakan sebagai agen pengontrol kelembapan serta nutrisi. Tujuan tersebut dicapai melalui kegiatan penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan penerapan media tanam alternatif pada tanaman hias. Target hasil yang ingin dicapai adalah dapat meningkatkan nilai ekonomis hidrogel serta menumbuhkan jiwa entrepreneurhip siswa/i Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Muhammadiyah Sidomulyo.

 

 

Hydrogel technology can be used as a solution for indoor growing media. Hydrogel is a three-dimensional polymer network with cross-linked hydrophilic polymers, which is capable of swelling or storing water and physiological solutions up to thousands of times its dry weight, and does not dissolve easily. To increase knowledge about cultivating ornamental plants using hydrogel media, community service was carried out using partners at the Muhammadiyah Sidomulyo Private Madrasah Aliyah. This service aims to provide solutions to partners in the form of alternative planting media based on environmentally friendly alginate-based hydrogels which can be used as moisture and nutrient control agents. This goal is achieved through outreach activities, training and the application of alternative planting media for ornamental plants. The target results to be achieved are to increase the economic value of the hydrogel and foster the entrepreneurial spirit of Muhammadiyah Sidomulyo Private Madrasah Aliyah students.
