Abstract
Hutanamale Village, Sorik Marapi District, Madina Regency is a center for producing horticultural crops, such as strawberries, chilies, mustard greens, tomatoes, potatoes and cabbage. Strawberries, fruit that grows in cold temperatures (17℃-20℃) humidity (80-90%), 8-10 hours of light per day and rainfall of 600-700mm. These environmental factors support strawberries to be grown in Puncak Sorik Marapi. Several types of pests were identified in the strawberry growth phase, consisting of Acida turita, Locusta sp., Valanga nigricornis, Chrysocus auratus, Tetranychus sp., Aphis sp., and Gryllotalpha sp. During the generative phase, the pests were Acida turita, Locusta sp., Valanga nigricornis, Chrysocus auratus, Tetranychus sp., Aphis sp. Drosphila sp., Filicaulis bleekeri, Gryllotalpha sp. Farmers in Sorik Merapi still use a lot of chemicals to control pests and diseases of strawberry plants. The USU LPPM Multi-year Service Team conducted field surveys, outreach, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), training on the manufacture of vegetable pesticides and Paranet design as protection from pest attacks. The use of Paranet and processing of botanical pesticides from papaya leaves, red chilies, garlic, rotting strawberries, rice water waste are trained to farmers to control pests in strawberry fields. The use of paranet and botanical pesticides to support strawberry and horticulture cultivation and agro-ecotourism has received a positive response from the Happy Poktan and the Hutanamale Village community, Madina.
